Bin el Ouidane

Type.
A dammed hydro electric and water supply reservoir. The Dam at Bin El Ouidane is the largest hydro electricity dam in Morocco, it was completed in 1953 and has a height of 132 m and a length of 290 m.
Size.
Between 4000 and 6000 ha approx., depending on the water level. The lake has a length of approx. 20 km and a width of 5 km at its widest.
Carp stock.
The lake has been stocked with carp in 1992 or 1993. The quantity and size of the biggest fish are still unknown. The lake record (up to now, October 2008) has been caught by the German guy Tim Rosky!, in spring 2007, a common carp of 27,6 kg (60lbs +). Regularly, larger carp (30 kg +) has been witnessed by local fishermen. At Bin El Ouidane, there is also Trout, Black Bass, Zander, Pike, Perca Sol and Barbel. (No Bream).
Record size.
Current lake record, is a 27,6 kg (60lbs +) common carp.
Category.
Exceptional fishing in breathtaking surroundings. Sometimes the lake offers 'easy fishing', sometimes 'it's hard'.
Restrictions.
At this moment (October 2008) there has been and only is, one company Actif (since may 2007), who has the legal rights to offer fishing with 3 rods, day and night, with tents, all year through, no closed season. That company is Morocco Carp Fishing.
Permits.
Only available and handed over by Morocco Carp Fishing. Bookings via website below.

Please be warned, 'some other persons from England and Germany' are offering similar fishing trips to the same lake. They never had, and at this moment (October 2008) still not have, any legal authorisation to offer similar fishing trips! Again, don't get disappointed, please arrange your bookings through the only legal authorised company Morocco Carp Fishing!

Location.
The lake is a four hour drive from Marrakesh or Casablanca airport. The lake is located in the middle Atlas mountains, next to a small Berber community. Nearest village is Ouaouizaght (10 min drive). Nearest town is Beni Mellal (1hr drive).
Supplies.
All necessary supplies are arranged by Morocco Carp Fishing. Some small shops, with 'basic products' are available at the nearest village Ouaouizaght. (10 min drive).
